Las Vegas is a popular starting point for a Moab road trip. The drive covers about 460 miles and takes roughly 7 hours via I-15 North and I-70 East. Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park are two spectacular stops along the way, offering opportunities for short hikes and incredible scenery.

2. Driving to Moab from Denver

If you prefer to drive, Moab is approximately 350 miles from Denver, making it a 5.5- to 6-hour drive via I-70 West and US-191 South. Along the way, you can stop at Colorado National Monument near Grand Junction and take in the impressive rock formations and canyons.

3. National Parks Along the Way to Moab

For those driving to Moab from Denver or Las Vegas, there are several stunning national parks to visit along the way:

Starting April 1, 2025, Contour Airlines, in partnership with United Airlines, will offer direct flights to Canyonlands Regional Airport (CNY) in Moab from Phoenix (PHX) and Denver (DEN). This new flight option provides an easy way to reach Moab without long drives.

6. Flying to Moab from Salt Lake City (Red Tail Aviation)

Travelers from Salt Lake City can take a short, scenic flight to Moab via Red Tail Aviation, which operates flights to Canyonlands Regional Airport. This is an ideal choice for those who prefer to avoid the 3.5-hour drive.

7. Taking Amtrak to Grand Junction and Renting a Car

One of the most scenic ways to reach Moab is by taking an Amtrak train to Grand Junction, Colorado. The California Zephyr route stops at Grand Junction, which is the nearest Amtrak station to Moab. From Grand Junction, you can rent a car and drive approximately 110 miles (about 1 hour and 45 minutes) to Moab or you can book a shuttle to Moab and then hop on a tour.

8. Riding the Rocky Mountaineer Luxury Train to Moab

For a more luxurious travel experience, consider taking the Rocky Mountaineer, a high-end train that runs from Denver to Moab.
