We sympathize over the extra cost and we know it isn’t ideal, but:
GOOD NEWS: You’ll be able to see more of the iconic park locations with us than with outfitters who do include it in the cost of the tour.
GOOD NEWS: Each pass covers up to 4 guests in your group. If you have one existing pass your group is covered!
GOOD NEWS: You do have options if you’d rather not pay. There are 5 days each year when entrance to all national parks is free even on our tours. See dates below.
GOOD NEWS: $80 America The Beautiful pass is good at 2,000 federal recreation sites for an entire year! Great opportunity to explore more and plan more trips even closer to home.
If you have an existing park pass that will be valid on the day of your tour, you do not need to purchase an additional pass. You can use it for a group of up to 4 on our tour.
If you are joining us on the following dates, you do not need to purchase a pass since park entry is free on these days: Jan 16, Apr 22, Aug 4, Sep 23, Nov 11
You are entitled to a free pass if someone in your group is:

Your best option is to purchase the pass/pay entrance fee at the first park entrance station.
– If you have someone 62 and a US resident in your group, your best option is either the $20 annual senior pass or the $80 lifetime senior pass. If you’re not sure how much travel you’ll do in the future, purchase the annual pass because 4 annual Senior Passes purchased in consecutive years can be traded in for a lifetime pass at no extra cost.

Based on travel Industry standard tipping guidelines and the way guests typically tip: full day $60-$100 per couple, half day: $40-$80 per couple. Guests tell us all the time that our tours some of the best tours they have ever been on and our tours are undoubtedly the highest quality tours in town. Our guides are mature, and have professional understanding and appreciation of the ecology of the desert and the geology of the parks which they will enthusiastically share with you throughout the day. In the past guests have asked our guides what a good tip would be and that always makes for an uncomfortable conversation so that is why we have included the above guidelines for your consideration if you decide you’d like to leave something for your tour guide after spending the day with them.
Between April 1 and October 31 Arches National Park will require daily reservations for entry between 7am and 4pm. You do not need a reservation if you are joining us on a tour. Your tour includes an Arches reservation. However, if you are planning on staying in Moab for a few days and returning to the park on your own you will need to secure a reservation for a specific date on recreation.gov.
Our tours are in small groups, but they are mixed. We pick guests up from hotels on the way to the parks. Please be ready at your designated time so that the tour gets our on time and no one is left waiting. Our tours are paced for a relaxed day and include ample time for photo stops. Keeping up with the pace the guide sets will assure that we can make all the planned stops. Please have your park pass and driver’s license or payment ready for the park personnel at the entrance station.
Since we typically travel in mixed groups and not everyone wants to and since we want to maximize your sightseeing, we do not make stops at the visitor centers since stops at the visitor center are never quick. Good news though, if you want to get a passport stamp or If you are looking to shop for national park souvenirs, the Moab Information Center at the intersection of Center and Main streets is run by the same organization as the shops in both of the national parks and you’ll be able to get both stamps there and find the exact same souvenirs there as in the park shops.
Our scenic tours utilize touring vans with large windows for better sightseeing and comfortable seating. Jeeps might sound fun, but they never are for the three people packed into the second row which is why we no longer offer jeep tours. Our guests always get their own row so no one is ever in the middle.
For cancellations requested more than 48 hours prior to the start of the tour we will issue a full refund. After 48 hours we will refund 50% of the tour fee. No refunds are issued after the tour start time.
Our hiking tours include: Sunset Hiking Experience at Devil’s Garden, “Solitaire” Hike Through Arches National Park (known as Discover the Hidden Side of Arches Hike on TripAdvisor), Moab Cool Summer Hike. Check out the detailed description of each hiking tour here.
How Strenuous Are The Hiking Tours? All hiking trails around Moab involve some level of scrambling, climbing over rocks using your hands, and could follow mild cliff exposures, but none of the hikes we do are even remotely dangerous, however they definitely will stretch your comfort zone and will challenge you a bit. All our hiking tours are designed for beginner/intermediate hikers. The hiking time on all tours is around 2 hours depending on your pace. The length of the hikes is about 3 – 4 miles. Please call us if you have significant range of motion or joint issues or if you have an extreme fear of heights – these issues could prove challenging on some of our hikes.
Shoes. For all hikes other than the cool summer hike, please bring hiking shoes with grippy rubber soles (Vibram). Rubber soles are really important because the rocks here can be slick (thus the name slickrock!). Your shoes don’t have to be heavy duty hikers, but they need to have good rubber soles to grip the rock which gym shoes don’t always have. Anything else will feel frustrating and you’ll spend more time thinking about your feet than enjoying the scenery! If you’re joining us for the cool summer, please make sure to have sturdy water shoes available for the hike, either sneakers or closed toe water sandals. Socks are a good idea to put on with water shoes to avoid sand getting in your shoes and rubbing your feet raw.
Water. You must have enough water for the hike with you since once we start hiking there are no more opportunities for refills. It’s best to have a backpack to carry your water in. You will be hiking in the desert which can be deceiving. It will feel lovely on your skin, but your inner hydration will decrease dramatically if you don’t drink a lot. Drinking less than 1.5 – 2 quarts of water per person on any of our hikes will leave you dehydrated! In summer months, please be sure to fill your water bottles with ICE WATER. We will have ice water for refill after the hike, but we want to get you off to a good start with lots of nice cool hydration!
National Parks Pass. Hiking tours outside the National Parks do not require a park pass, but the tours inside the parks do. National Park entrance fees are not included in the cost of our tours since 95% of our guests have some form of a national parks pass and those passes can be used to enter the parks on a guided tour. One pass – senior, military, or annual – will cover all occupants of the tour vehicle and the guide is free. If you do not have a pass the commercial tour entry cost is $15/pp per park. You can purchase a park pass at the time of park entry on the day of your tour and use it to enter the park. If you don’t have a pass, please read this article on whether to get a pass ahead of time or whether to purchase it at the time of the tour.
Other. Hats, sunscreen, and other favorite hiking gear and enough snacks for the hike to keep you energized. If you’re bringing walking poles please make sure they can be folded because at times you will be scrambling up sections of rock and at that time you will want to put the walking poles away so your hands are free. A backpack to put all your gear in and additional layers. By the time the season starts, it’s typically already warm enough that at some point you will want to remove some layers, but dress appropriately for the forecast – nothing special, regular comfortable sport clothes are ok.
Rain gear. It is a good idea to bring rain gear. It typically rains here very rarely though recently we have experienced more summer monsoon rains than before. If the forecast calls for excessive rain we will cancel the trip since it can be dangerous to be hiking out in a storm and it probably won’t be fun either. Typically it rains worst at the end of March, beginning of April and a little in September.
We will have a first aid kit, satellite communication system, and cold water and small snacks for your enjoyment at the end of the hike.
Believe it or not, our regular tours are so well curated that there is very little need to customize them. Our regular tours are designed to showcase the most important, most iconic places in the three parks and are some of the most comprehensive tours you will find in Moab. However, if there is something around the Moab area you read about and are interested in exploring then yes, we can design a tour based on your interests that includes those places. Drop us a line through our contact form and we will get back to you to get more details on what you’re looking for.
We are committed to convenience so we encourage all bookings from your phone or a computer. We also pick you up for your tour in front of your hotel and drop you off there as well so you never have to step foot in a stuffy office. We are a local Moab, Utah company with a physical location in town. We are non-corporate, woman-owned business, but we love the corporate standards of professionalism and world-class customer services and we adhere to those on our tours!
The best way to communicate with us is to reach out to us over our contact form. We will respond to your inquiry within a couple of hours.
