Can you just drive through Arches National Park?
If you’re planning on seeing Arches on your own, be sure to secure a timed-entry reservation which is required to enter the park from April 1 to October 31 from 7am to 4pm. You can secure the reservation on recreation.gov. If you’re joining us on a tour, Arches reservation is already included in the tour!
Yes, you can drive through Arches National Park and experience 90% of the park. The park features a scenic drive with several overlooks and pull-offs where you can stop and take in the views of the park’s famous red rock formations and arches. The drive takes about an hour to complete without stops and covers about 26 miles (one way). There are also several short trails that can be easily walked if you wish to explore the park on foot. Some trails are accessible for visitors with disabilities. Keep in mind that some areas of the park, such as the Delicate Arch, require a strenuous hike to reach them. If you’re planning to visit during peak season, it’s best to arrive early in the morning or late in the day, as the park can get quite busy and parking can be limited.
There is one campground in the park – Devil’s Garden – for those who wish to stay in the park while spending multiple days exploring. Reservations are required for the campground during peak season. There are also picnic areas and restrooms available throughout the park. Visitors should also be aware of the park’s regulations, such as staying on designated trails to protect the natural environment and not disturbing wildlife.
The park is also home to a visitor center, which is a great resource for learning about the history and geology of the park, as well as obtaining information about current conditions and trail closures. The visitor center is open year-round, but the hours of operation may vary depending on the season.
Overall, Arches National Park is a great destination for those who love outdoor activities and nature. Whether you’re interested in taking a scenic drive, hiking, camping, or simply enjoying the beautiful views, there’s something for everyone in the park.
