Canyonlands National Park Tour
Canyonlands National Park is located in southeastern Utah and is known for its unique geologic features, including canyons, mesas, and rock formations. You can see this park on your own or you can join us on a Canyonlands National Park tour and learn about this spectacular area.
The park is divided into four distinct districts: Island in the Sky, The Needles, The Maze, and the Horseshoe Canyon. Each district offers a different experience and different things to see, such as rock arches, towering spires, and ancient petroglyphs. The park also offers a variety of recreational opportunities, such as hiking, camping, and backpacking. Additionally, Canyonlands National Park is home to a diverse array of plants and animals, including desert bighorn sheep, golden eagles, and many species of cacti and wildflowers.
Island in the Sky is the most popular district of Canyonlands National Park and is located on a large mesa overlooking the surrounding canyons. The mesa offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscape, including the White Rim, a white rock formation that circles the base of the mesa. Visitors can take a drive along the scenic White Rim Road, which offers incredible views of the canyons and rock formations. Island in the Sky district has several overlooks, including the Grand View Point Overlook, which offers a panoramic view of the canyons and the Green River. Another popular viewpoint is the Upheaval Dome Overlook, which offers a view of a unique geologic feature, believed to be the result of a meteor impact. There are several hiking trails on the mesa that offer visitors an opportunity to explore the geologic features of the park, including the Mesa Arch, a natural arch that provides a beautiful frame for the canyon below, and the Aztec Butte Trail, which leads to an ancient Puebloan granary. Camping is allowed in Island in the Sky at the only campground in the district called Willow Springs which is first come first serve. If you’re looking for a lunch spot there are several designated picnic areas. The district is open year-round, but services may be limited in the winter months.
